One of a kind; hot-forged on a small scale. These earrings started out as two identical discs of sterling silver, which were then shaped and textured into two complementary forms. Both earrings have a round, 1.75mm round natural light blue/green sapphire that has been rough-set into place, with an 18k yellow gold detail on the front. Approximately 10mm in diameter, they weigh 1.3g each.
Related to her interest in Martian astrogeology, these earrings are part of the artist's 'Unearth' collection, and are inspired by specific research gathering processes associated with some of the more recent aspects of NASA's Mars Exploration Program: drilling and core sampling.
